Get ready for the fishing trip of a lifetime with Reel Naughty Sportfishing out of Ocean City, MD. This 12-hour offshore journey kicks off at the crack of dawn, giving you a full day to chase some of the Atlantic's most prized game fish. Whether you're dreaming of battling a mighty marlin or filling the cooler with tasty mahi-mahi, this trip delivers big-time action in the deep blue.
We'll push off from the dock at 5 AM sharp, so come ready to roll. As we cruise past the inlet and into open water, you'll watch the sun rise over the horizon – it's a view that never gets old. The run to our offshore grounds takes about 2-3 hours, depending on where the fish are biting. Once we're in the zone, we'll set out a spread of lines and start trolling. Keep your eyes peeled for birds working the water or bits of floating debris – that's where the mahi like to hang out. If we're after bigger game like marlin or tuna, we might switch to kite fishing or chunking techniques. The action can be fast and furious out here, so stay on your toes!
Trolling is the name of the game for most of our offshore fishing. We'll be pulling a mix of artificial lures and natural baits behind the boat. When a fish hits, it's all hands on deck! For the big boys like marlin or tuna, we use heavy-duty stand-up gear. Don't worry if you're new to this style of fishing – the crew will show you the ropes. We might also break out the kites if conditions are right, sending out live baits to dance on the surface and tempt those trophy fish. And for yellowfin tuna, chunking with cut bait can be deadly effective. Whatever the fish are biting on, we've got the gear and know-how to put you on them.

Mahi Mahi (Dolphin): These colorful acrobats are a blast to catch and even better to eat. They love to hang around floating debris and weedlines, often traveling in schools. When you hook one, get ready for some airborne action! Mahi can grow up to 50+ pounds, but most average 15-30 pounds. They're great fighters on light tackle and put on a real show. Peak season is usually mid-summer through fall, but we can find them year-round in the right conditions.
Blue Marlin: The crown jewel of offshore fishing, blue marlin are the stuff of angling legend. These massive billfish can top 1,000 pounds, though fish in the 200-400 pound range are more common in our waters. When a blue marlin crashes the spread, hold on tight – the initial run can strip hundreds of yards of line in seconds! They're known for their spectacular jumps and tail-walking across the surface. While they can be caught year-round, your best shot at a blue marlin is during the warmer months from June through September.
Wahoo: Speed demons of the open ocean, wahoo are built for the chase. These streamlined predators can hit speeds over 60 mph and strike lures with incredible force. They're prized for both their fighting ability and their excellent table fare. Wahoo typically range from 15 to 40 pounds, but 100+ pound monsters aren't unheard of. We target them by trolling at high speeds with specialized lures. While they can be caught year-round, fall and winter tend to be prime wahoo season in our area.
This 12-hour trip is the real deal for serious anglers looking to tangle with some of the ocean's top predators. With expert guidance from our seasoned crew and plenty of time on the water, your chances of landing that fish of a lifetime are better than ever. Remember, deposits are non-refundable, so check your calendar and get ready to commit to the offshore adventure of a lifetime. The big ones are out there waiting – let's go find 'em!

Blue marlin are the kings of big game fishing. These massive billfish can top 1,000 pounds, though 200-400 is more common around here. You'll find them in the warm offshore waters, often following bait schools. Marlin are lightning fast, clocked at over 60 mph, and put on an amazing aerial show when hooked. Summer and early fall are prime time as they migrate through. Most anglers troll big lures or rigged baits, but live bait fishing can be effective too. Be ready for a long, intense fight - these fish don't give up easily. Landing one is a true bucket list achievement for any angler. My tip: when a marlin takes the bait, wait until it turns to swallow before setting the hook. Patience pays off with these giants.
Mahi Mahi are a blast to target offshore. These colorful fish average 15-30 pounds but can top 80. Look for them near floating debris or weed lines where they hunt. They're fast swimmers and acrobatic fighters, known to jump and shake their heads when hooked. Mahi have firm, mild-tasting white meat that's excellent grilled or blackened. Peak season here is June through October when the warm Gulf Stream brings them in. To up your odds, troll with rigged ballyhoo or bright-colored lures that mimic flying fish. When you spot one, there's often more nearby - have a pitch bait ready to throw to the school. Nothing beats watching a fired-up Mahi crush a bait on the surface!
Wahoo are like the cheetahs of the ocean - sleek, swift, and built for speed. They average 30-50 pounds but can reach well over 100. You'll find them in our offshore waters year-round, but fall is prime time as they follow bait migrations. Wahoo hunt near the surface and around structure like ledges or floating debris. They're known for blistering runs and razor-sharp teeth that'll slice through leaders. High-speed trolling with wire leaders is the go-to tactic. Try bright lures or rigged ballyhoo. The meat is excellent - firm, white fillets that are great for grilling or sashimi. Local tip: when a wahoo hits, don't set the hook right away. Let it run for a few seconds to get the bait further in its mouth before tightening up.
